LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) â A new arm of the Nebraska athletic department has been created to collect and analyze data related to performances of teams and individual athletes.
Nebraska announced Wednesday that Tucker Zeleny would be the director of sports analytics and data analysis.
Associate athletic director for performance and strategic research Steve Waterfield said the work of Zeleny and his staff would help give Nebraska teams a competitive advantage.
Zeleny earned his doctorate in statistics from Nebraska in May.
WASHINGTON (AP) â A House panel has issued a subpoena to Secretary of State John Kerry for department documents, reports and letters related to the contentious push to build the Keystone XL pipeline.
Republicans on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee announced the subpoena on Wednesday.
The $8 billion pipeline would transport oil harvested from Canada's tar sands to pipelines linked to refineries on the Gulf of Mexico.
Hastings resident, Dr. Scott McCormick, Jr., 86, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2015, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings.
Memorial services were Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with the Rev. Dr. Jimmy Shelbourn officiating. Private burial will be in Wyuka Cemetery, Lincoln, at a later date.

Celebration of Life Service for Thelma M. Ridenour will be Friday, July 10, 2015, at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege, with Chaplain DeWane Dow officiating. A private family inurnment will be held prior to the services in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.
Joy Fuller, age 63, of Broken Bow died Monday, June 29, 2015, at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha.
Joy Ann (Bailey) Fuller was born Oct. 6, 1951, in Sargent to Karl and Nola Grim Bailey.Â She grew up in the Custer County area and attended school in Ansley.
Joy married Jerry Fuller Aug. 17, 1969. To this union, three children were born, Kimberlee, Kristina and Jason. While raising her family, she worked at Becton Dickinson and resided in Broken Bow for 30 years until she retired in 2007.

Gary L. Ritchie was born April 4, 1948, at Callaway, to Charles J. (Doc) and Wanda L. (Cool) Ritchie.
John Milton Birnie, 91 of Broken Bow, was called to his heavenly home June 29, 2015, surrounded by family. He spent the past two years fighting cancer never giving in to it until his last breath.
John was born Sept. 17, 1923, on Ryno Table to Robert and Grace (Eggleston) Birnie. He attended school at Custer Canyon and Ryno Table through the 10th grade finishing his education by correspondence through the Nebraska University.
