Elwood held off a comeback from S-E-M in the second half and pulled away late, winning the game 56-36. Angel Boteo lead the way for the Mustangs with 13 points to go with 11 from Brian Guerra and 10 from Chase Erwin. In the opening-round girls game, Arcadia fell to Elwood 50-35 and Elwood also defeated Arcadia in the opening round of the boys game. Ansley-Litchfield edged S-E-M in their opening round girls game before S-E-M won the boys game 37-35. Elwood will play Ansley-Litchfield in the championship game on Saturday at 6:00 while Arcadia and S-E-M will play for third place Saturday at 3:00. On the boys side, S-E-M will take on Elwood for the championship Saturday at 7:30 and Arcadia will take on Ansley-Litchfield for third place on Saturday at 4:30.
New Mexico Bowl: Arizona (7-5) vs. Nevada (7-5)- There are a lot about these teams that are similar. They both have the same record, powerful offenses and defenses that just plain don't show up. This should be a shootout out west. I'm going to give Rich Rodriguez and the Arizona Wildcats the edge here.
