Just what I was waiting for...

June 13, 2011

Well, I'm back in Broken Bow. After 3 1/2 weeks of chasing a dream, I'm glad to be home. But I have to admit, the dream was worth chasing...
If you've read the previous blog "Waiting to expel," you know where I'm coming from. If you haven't - well, take a minute to read it! It wasn't easy waiting for my second child to be born, as I do not like to sit idle and it was difficult to view it as a vacation when half my family wasn't there.

Waiting to Expel

June 3, 2011

So here I sit, waiting to expel...a baby! I thought I'd share a little of what I'm going through in this blog, primarily because it's the only thing that has consumed the past 3 weeks (not to mention the previous 9 months) of my life.
Two years ago, I gave birth via c-section to a beautiful baby girl. However, the birth experience was not what I had dreamed. There was no labor, at least, not that I could feel. I hated the recovery and the feelings/thoughts that came with it.

Been Awhile...

May 12, 2011

I think I mentioned in my previous post that this time of the year is crazy! Tomorrow is our last junior high track meet...I'm excited to see what the kids can do! We've had some awesome performances this year. Our distance girls enjoy taking several of the top positions in each race they run. At one track meet, I told one of them that she needed to run a personal best of 2:50 in the 800 and win her heat in order to place. She said she'd try...well, she missed it by 1 second and just barely missed placing. However, that was a 20-second improvement! Wow! Kids like that make coaching look easy!

Spring into action

March 8, 2011

I came to the realization that I am ready for spring...right after the first snow storm! I love the snow and used to be very good at carving out sculptures, but I've found the responsibilities of adulthood somewhat more boring when it comes to snow. Shoveling, compliance with ordinances, paying for snow removal, going to work (what ever happened to a snow day?), etc.

No more "no problem!"

February 18, 2011

I engaged in a conversation with several ladies while picking up jobwork at a local business. One of them told me "No problem" when I asked if she could do something for me and the other lady reminded her that she wasn't supposed to use the negative-sounding statement.

Please put the lid down...

February 10, 2011

As I was getting ready for work this morning and struggling with my almost-2-year-old daughter to get her ready for daycare, I was reminded how many pet peeves I have. Maybe too many!
Of all the cute and not-so-cute things my daughter does, her whiny, crabby, tantrum-like behaviors get to me the fastest. I can handle the all-out tantrum (I think it's really cute and shows great coordination when she jumps up and down), but the fussy-for-no-reason stuff drives me insane!

To be or not to be romantic...that is the question.

February 3, 2011

With Valentine's Day fast approaching, my husband is constantly asking "What do you want for Valentine's Day?" Each year, my answer is the same: "Nothing." And each year, he gets me something because he says I'll be mad if he doesn't.

Is he correct? I don't know. I mean, we don't get presents for St. Patrick's Day or President's Day, and it never bothered me. To me, Valentine's Day is just another excuse for marketing something that should be done on a day-to-day basis: tell and show your loved ones that you love them!

Huskers battle Sooners to end conference competition after 89 years

November 29, 2010

Since 1921, Oklahoma and Nebraska have been meeting on the gridiron as confernce foes. This weekend in the Big 12 championship game, this conference rivalry will end after 89 years. During those 89 years, it was the decade of the 70's and 80's that heated the rivalry. It began with the 'Game of the Century' then blossomed in 1973 when Tom Osborne became the new Nebraska coach and Barry Switzer becoming Oklahoma's coach. It was the wishbone vs the power 'I', it was Thanksgiving, for 20 years it was Oklahoma vs Nebraska.

Sargent will play for the Class D2 Football State Championship Monday

November 17, 2010

How many of you are going to Lincoln to support the Sargent Bulldogs Monday morning? I will be one heck of a game! Good Luck Bulldogs!

How do you think Sargent will do in the Championship Game?

After the loss to Texas, will the Huskers bounce back?

October 19, 2010

The loss to Texas, showed weaknesses that the Husker coaching staff must fix but I was more disturbed by how unprepared the Huskers were for this game. Offensively, it had been said by almost every sports analyst that the Huskers would not be able to run laterally against the speed of the Texas defense and the Huskers proved them right. The unwillingness of the coaching staff not to pass the ball to open running lanes may have been a mistake but they finally caught on in the fourth quarter which was a little to late.

The SEC and Big Ten each had three schools in the first College Football Playoff rankings. But...
