The Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) asks citizens to be prepared and keep up-to-date on the latest weather and road conditions, as a late February winter storm takes aim at a large portion of Nebraska today through Friday.
Snow will fall at the rate of one to two inches per hour as the storm moves into the Sandhills and Central Nebraska, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). Near blizzard conditions could occur in open areas over Thursday night and into Friday.

As temperatures climb this afternoon (Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017), the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Red Flag warning for Fire Weather Zone 209 which includes the Nebraska counties of Custer, Loup, Garfield, Wheeler and Holt.
