No. 21 Nebraska opens Big Ten play against Illinois

September 26, 2014

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Ameer Abdullah has the third-most rushing attempts in the nation and has touched the ball on one-third of Nebraska's plays from scrimmage.

He wants to continue with the heavy workload.

"I feel better in week No. 4 than I have in previous seasons," Abdullah said.

That's good for the 21st-ranked Cornhuskers (4-0) and bad for Illinois (3-1), which visits Memorial Stadium on Saturday.

Best of Miami vs Nebraska, at a glance

September 18, 2014

A look at last 5 games between Miami and Nebraska

Miami and Nebraska have played 10 times in football, with each team winning five games. The last five meetings have been in bowl games, and four decided national championships. Here's what happened:

Miami - Nebraska Preview

September 18, 2014

Miami (2-1) at No. 24 Nebraska (3-0), 8 p.m. (ESPN2)

Line: Nebraska by 7 ½.

Series Record: Tied 5-5.

WHAT'S AT STAKE
Miami believes it's a better team than the one that lost at Louisville in its opener. There's no better way to find out than playing on the road in front of 90,000 fans, many of whom remember the days when the Hurricanes beat their Cornhuskers regularly in bowl games. Nebraska's best test came from FCS McNeese State, and it barely escaped. The Huskers could use a solid win over a quality opponent before Big Ten play begins.

Big Ten Stumbles

September 10, 2014

After tough weekend, Big Ten teams pivot forward

There are a couple of tough nonconference tests on the Big Ten schedule this week and rivalry games, too, but this week is more about recovery.

The proud brand took a hit with decisive defeats by Michigan State, Ohio State and Michigan to high-profile opponents, and the Spartans have this Saturday off to recuperate from a decent performance at Oregon that got out of hand at the end.
