Illini big test for Huskers' struggling defense

October 4, 2013

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — What once looked like a cushy October schedule for Nebraska might have become more of a challenge.

The way the Cornhuskers' defense has performed through four games surely has Illinois thinking it could steal a win at Memorial Stadium on Saturday and end its 14-game Big Ten losing streak.

Broken Bow washes out Valentine in torrential downpour

September 27, 2013

Broken Bow topped Valentine 20-0 Friday night to move to 2-2 on the season while Valentine falls to 1-3. The Indians got touchdown runs from Grayson Minnick (41 yards), Zac Jones (one yard) and Jeremy Christner (five yards). The Indians defense kept the Badgers out of the end zone after turnovers twice facing a short field. Broken Bow turned the ball over four times, but forced two interceptions of their own.

Secret to rodeo success, lots of hard work

September 27, 2013

Jayde Atkins, Broken Bow, is getting ready to compete this weekend at the 2013 Ak-Sar-Ben’s Heartland Invitational Scholarship High School Rodeo Champions Challenge in Omaha.

She is one of Nebraska’s best in the High School Rodeo arena. There is scholarship money on the line … but even better, there are bragging rights. And Jayde this past year has already earned a few of her own, including All Around Cowgirl this past weekend in Broken Bow.
