Accident leads to arrest of Sargent man

An April 26 vehicle accident near Sargent has led to the arrest of a Sargent man. Ronald J.Vincent, 49, was driving his 1994 red Ford pickup when he lost control and went through a fence before hitting an embankment. The accident occurred approximately 2 1/2 miles west and 1 1/2 miles north of Sargent at 7:15 p.m.
A passer-by who came upon the scene of the accident called 911 and was attempting to assist Vincent when Vincent allegedly threatened the individual with a gun. Vincent is also alleged to have threatened another man with the gun at the accident scene, a First Responder trying to render aid.
The Custer County Sheriff’s Office and Sargent Rescue responded to the scene, and Vincent was transported without incident to Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow with non life threatening injuries.
Vincent was arraigned in Custer County Court Monday on seven felony charges. Those charges and their possible penalties are: Count I - driving while under the influence - 5th offense, Class III felony, 1-20 years imprisonment and/or $25,000 fine; Count II - driving during revocation, Class IV felony, 0-5 years imprisonment and/or $10,000 fine; Count III - terroristic threats, Class IV felony, 0-5 years imprisonment and/or $10,000 fine; Count IV - use of a firearm to commit a felony, Class II felony, 1-50 years imprisonment; Count V - terroristic threats, Class IV felony, 0-5 years imprisonment and/or $10,000 fine; Count VI - use of a firearm to commit a felony, Class II felony, 1-50 years imprisonment; Count VII - felon in possession of a firearm, Class III felony, 1-20 years imprisonment and/or $25,000 fine.
Vincent is currently being held in the Custer County Jail on $750,000 cash bond. Judge Gary Washburn denied a request for a bond reduction Monday, and set a preliminary hearing for May 16 at 2 p.m.
