Albert Thomas, 91

Albert L. Thomas, age 91 of Scribner, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at the Fremont Area Medical Center.
Albert was born Sept. 6, 1922, in Milburn, to Wilson E. and Clara Edna ‘Hogaboom’ Thomas. He was raised in Milburn and graduated from Dunning High School in 1939. After high school Albert began his long career with the telephone company. Albert married Zita Mae Foote Aug. 16, 1947. The couple moved to Scribner in 1957. Albert was working for Great Plains Communication until he retired in 1987.
Albert was a founding member of the Scribner Improvement and Industrial Corporation, and involved with the Scribner Chamber of Commerce. He was on the Scribner School Board, serving at one time as the School Board President. He served on the Scribner Housing Board. He was a member of the United Church of Christ and the Scribner Masonic Lodge No. 132.
Survivors include his wife, Zita Mae of Scribner; daughters, Shirley Holbach of Elkhart, Iowa, Cindy and husband Scott Green of Minneapolis, Minn.; sons, Leland and wife Mary Thomas of Dunning, Eric and wife Donna Thomas of Whiting, Iowa, Kenny and wife Sally Thomas of Scribner; nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren
Albert was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Scott; one brother and two sisters.
The funeral was Monday, Oct. 14 at the United Church of Christ, UCC in Scribner, with Pastor Larry Jirsak officiating. Burial followed in the Scribner Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Scribner Area Foundation.
