Alberta Jensen, 97
Alberta (Fellows) Jensen was born in a sod house near Koshopah April 8, 1015, to Frank and Mamie (Fetherston) Fellows. She passed away Nov. 8, 2012, at the age of 97.
Alberta attended Cottonwood from first through 10th grade, and graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1932, taking the Normal Training school program.
Alberta married Ted Jensen Feb. 12, 1934, in Taylor. To this union nine children were born. They lived in the Koshopah and Cottonwood area ranching together for many years. She was Tedâ€™s extra hand whenever he needed one.
She enjoyed quilting, embroidering, cooking and gardening. It was her greatest pleasure to visit with family and neighbors. She loved to play cards, especially pinochle and pitch. She was always willing to help a friend in need.
In 1978, she moved to Broken Bow and enjoyed visiting with others and volunteering at various organizations. In her later years, she collected dolls and loved to sew doll clothes. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren.
She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Alberta is survived by her son, Ron (Lue) Jensen of Chadron; daughters, Betty Day of Valentine, Lucille Beck of Des Moines, Iowa, Helen (Ambrose) Podraza of Columbus, Collene (Richard) Murphy of McCook, Deb (Griff) Carfield of Lebannon, Nebr., Diane (Steve) Lickliter of Alliance, and Jaci (Mike) Peterson of Weissert; 22 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Emma Hughes of Grand Island.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ted; four brothers; three sisters; one son, Roland; one grandson, Jeff Podraza; three great-grandchildren, and two sons-in-law.
Funeral services were Nov. 12, 2012, at the United Church of Christ in Purdum, with the Rev. Judy Cook officiating. Burial was in the Purdum Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Purdum Cemetery or the Purdum Fire Department.
