Arlin D Wiemer was born in York, Nov. 1, 1935, to Martin F and Sophia (Zwiebel) Wiemer and died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013. The family lived on a farm at Waco.
He was baptized and confirmed at St Johnâ€™s Lutheran Church. He graduated from Waco High School and continued his education in Grand Island and Lincoln, to become a Certified Public Account-ant. Arlin enjoyed fishing, hunting traveling, putzing around in his shed and family activities.
Arlin and Lorna (Mickey Duryea) were united in marriage Feb. 16, 1958. Arlin worked for Dana F. Cole & Co. in Lincoln for four years. Arlin then moved his family to York, where he became a partner with Robert L. Romans and created the company of ROMANS & WIEMER CPAâ€™S in 1962. He guided and helped the company grow into building offices in Beatrice, Seward and York until his retirement in 2004. Arlin was a member of AICPA and the Nebraska Society of CPAâ€™s for more than 40 years.
Arlin served his church, Emmanuel Lutheran, for many years as treasurer and other offices and committees. He read his bible and church papers until his final resting day. He also served the community in noon Sertoma, where he was a gold coat president; Jaycees, where he served as president and other offices; Cub Scout leader, sponsoring the pinewood derby, and Miss Nebraska Pageant in York. Arlin was an initial member of Crime Stoppers as their treasurer. Arlin was instrumental in organizing a clean up crew to help after the tornados in Grand Island.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mickey of York; son, Steven D (Leanne) Wiemer of York; grandsons, Steven (Brittney) Wiemer of Lincoln, and Jared Wiemer of Lincoln; daughter, Stephanie (Scott) Petersen; grandson, Tyler and granddaughter, Sadie Petersen of Laurel; son, Shawn L Wiemer of Ft. Worth, Texas; grandson, Joseph and granddaughter Karlee Wiemer; daughter, Shannon (Craig) Runge of Waco; grandson, Michael and granddaughters Michelle and Mikaela Runge of Waco. Also surviving is brother-in-law, Irvin Haack of Benedict; sister-in-law Eileen Wiemer of Utica; brother-in-law, Lee V Duryea of Bennettsville, SC; brother-in-law, LaVern (Leona) Duryea of Mason City; sister-in-law, Louie (Robert) Young of Alamogorda, NM; and sister- in-law, Corky Haddix of Boise, Idaho; many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; infant son Randall Lee; brother Harold Wiemer; sister Evelyn Haack; sister Dorthy Blum; and brother-in-law Norman Blum.
Funeral services were Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York with the Rev. Mike Neidow officiating. Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery in Lincoln. Memorials may be directed to the Lutheran Hour, Emmanuel Lutheran Church/School, or the Alzheimerâ€™s Association.
