Bessey Ranger District Open, Water is Off

October 21, 2013

Halsey – The Bessey Ranger District campgrounds near Halsey have all been reopened for use as of Thursday. Because of the colder temperatures, the water to the showers and campsites at the main campground has been shut off to protect the system from freezing.

According to Dan Frodsham, Bessey Recreational Specialist, water is on throughout the primary camping season from Memorial Day through Labor Day, and is turned off to prepare the complex for fall and winter months. Frodsham reminds campers that there is still potable water available to our visitors at the Recreation Building and personnel will be working seven days a week through November to assist campers and answer questions.

If traveling to the Bessey Ranger District or any other areas of the NNF&G, please remember that travel management has been implemented and free Motor Vehicle Use Maps, or MVUMs, are available at all offices or posted at www.fs.fed.us/r2/nebraska. Please feel free to call ahead for any questions, at 308-533-2257.
