April 26, 2013

Custer County Sheriff Dan Osmond, above left, was presented an award by Michael Thurber.

Custer County Sheriff Dan Osmond has been recognized by his peers for a job well done.
During a special reception April 18 at the Jail Standards Convention, Osmond was presented with the “Excellence in Detention Facility Administration” award, one of only two given each year by Nebraska’s Jail Standards Board across the entire state of Nebraska.
Nominations for the award are made by either the person’s boss or employees and then voted on by members of the board.
The Nebraska Jail Standards Board is responsible for enforcing standards of maintenance, operation and construction of the state’s adult and juvenile detention facilities. One of their goals is to improve conditions and operations in local jails.
Osmond has been the jail administrator for two years.
