Comstock couple wins conservation award

October 4, 2010

Pat and Vicky Hruby of Comstock have been awarded the 2010 Nebraska Outstanding Grassland Conservation Award by the Nebraska Association of Resources Districts. The Association presents the award annually to honor and promote outstanding grassland management.
The Hruby’s livestock operation covers 1,800 acres in western Valley and eastern Custer Counties. The Hrubys have implemented range planting and rotational grazing plans on their ranch to improve livestock forage, provide wildlife cover, and reduce erosion.
The Lower Loup Natural Resources District and the Natural Resources Conservation Service nominated the Hrubys for the award. It was presented at the Nebraska Association of Resources Districts annual conference in Kearney September 27th.
