Cyndia Rasmussen, 54

Cyndia L. Rasmussen, 54 of rural Hazard, passed away at home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012.
Services were Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Faith Lutheran Church in Hazard, with the Rev. Dean Hanson officiating. Burial was in the Hazard Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the church or the Hazard Cemetery. Rasmussen Funeral Home in Ravenna was in charge of arrangements.
Cyndia Lea Rasmussen was born May 27, 1958, in Broken Bow, to Darrell R. and Delores (Criss) West. The family moved to Ravenna in 1964. She graduated from Ravenna High School in 1976.
She married Greg Rasmussen July 17, 1976, at Faith Lutheran Church in Hazard. They made their home in Hazard.
In 1993, they moved to the family farm homesteaded by her husband’s great-grandparents at Hazard. Cyndia enjoyed home improvement, swimming, water skiing and especially entertaining family and friends at the farm.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Hazard where she recently taught Sunday School and helped begin a children’s bell choir.
Since 1998, she was employed as a legal secretary at the law firm of Nye, Hervert, Jorgenson and Watson in Kearney. She served as secretary, treasurer of the Hazard Cemetery Board.
Survivors include her husband, Greg L. Rasmusssen of Hazard; sons, Brad (Sonya) Rasmussen of Hazard and Thomas (Ashley) Rasmussen of Blair; mother and step-father, Delores and Emil Kowalewski of Gibbon; brother, Gary West (Nina Walker) of Kearney; sister, Lori (Marty) Ade of Concordia, Kan.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wendell and Phyllis Rasmussen of Hazard; grandchildren, Grady and Bryce Rasmussen of Hazard and Mia Rasmussen of Blair; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Darrell R. West; brother, David West; sister, Gelene West, and her grandparents.
