Dorothy Hinze, 86

Dorothy Eleanor Hinze of Lincoln was born Dec. 30, 1925, in Stamford, to Clarence and Mary Lehman White. Dorothy was baptized and confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stamford. She graduated from Stamford High School where she was active in sports and was a cheerleader. After high school Dorothy went on to be a cosmetologist.
Dorothy was united in marriage to Darrell E. Hinze. This marriage lasted 52 years until Darrell's death in 1997. Three children were born of this union: Nancy, Terry and Judy.
Dorothy belonged to Dorcas Circle, Soma Club and delivered meals on wheels for several years. She belonged to the North Forty and Wilderness Ridge golf leagues.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Darrell, three brothers, two sisters and one granddaughter, Michelle.
She is survived by her companion, Kenneth Maser of Lincoln; her sister, Minnie Mintzmeyer of Alma; her children, Nancy and Matt Varney of Greeley, Colo., Terry and Linda Hinze of Plattsmouth, Judy and Randy Frymire of Kansas City, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Julie (Myron) Cunningham of Denver, Colo., Jeffrey Varney of Denver, Colo., Kristen (Derek) Stromsodt of Plattsmouth, Nathan (Marisa) Frymire of Overland Park, Kan., Patrick (Nikki) Varney of Windsor, Colo., Alison (Robert) Hall of Kansas City, Mo., and Taylor Frymire of Kansas City, Mo.; and 14 grandchildren, Andrew, Alyssa, Brandie, Alexis, Lance, Brady, Britt, Blake, Gabrielle, Kamryn, Ava, Adalyn, Owen and Evelyn.
Dorothy's love of life was her family, her companion Ken, golfing and her piano.
The family requests any memorials to be made to First Lutheran Church or the Monarch.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Friday at Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home,
4040 A Street, Lincoln. Visitation will be 1 – 8 pm Thursday with the family present from 7 – 8 pm Thursday and 1 – 2 pm Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Wyuka Cemetery.
