Elwood Goodwin went to be with the Lord Feb. 13, 2013. Elwood made Jesus the Lord of his life at the age of 12.
He was born in Bassett, into the home of Lloyd and Myrtle Goodwin, growing up with six brothers and sisters. Elwood graduated from Bassett High School and shortly thereafter served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Technical Sergeant after serving two years.
In 1946, he married Carol King (deceased). They had two children, Bernard and Barbara.
In 1967, he married Sharon Gremm and they celebrated 45 years of marriage in May 2012.
Elwood's professional career included a variety of interests: He spent several years in the seed, feed and grain storage business, owner/administrator of Rest Haven Nursing Home in Broken Bow, and the real estate business.
He began his Christian service volunteering as a young man in the Assembly of God church in Bassett. Throughout his life he served the Lord in many capacities in the church. He was a life time member of the Full Gospel Businessman's Fellowship International and a member of Radiant Church.
Elwood was most fulfilled when teaching God's Word and ministering to those in need.
Those remaining to join him in death or at the coming of Jesus are his wife, Sharon;
daughter, Barbara Pope; son, Bernard Goodwin and wife, Kim; grandchildren, Amy Martinko and husband Billy, Bernie Walker and wife Natalie, Christopher Pope; great-grandchildren, Ashley Shankland, Johnny Shank-land, Kayla Walker, Alexis Walker; sisters, Lois Randall, Phyllis Davis, Vanita West and husband Paul, extended family members and many friends.
