Fifteen area wrestlers remain in contention for medal

Fifteen area wrestlers will compete for a medal Saturday with two wrestling for the state championship in their weight class. Sargent/Burwell's Jed Fenske (145) and SEM's Traven Claflin (160) will wrestle for the gold medal in the championship round beginning at 2:30 this afternoon.
Area wrestlers who will compete for the 3rd place medal will be Ansley/Arcadia's Ryan Hircock (189); Mullen's Jared Simonson (130) and Nick Licking (189); South Loup's Logan Glendy (145) and SEM's John Frerichs (145).
Wrestling for 5th place will be Broken Bow's Matt Denson (135) in Class B. In Class C, Justin Miller (112) and Tanner Balfour (152) will represent Sargent/Burwell in the 5th place matches. Wrestling in the Class D 5th place matches will be Anselmo-Merna's Colten Fales (215); Ansley/Arcadia's Stuart Hircock (160); Mullen's Jarod Spurlin (145) and Tyrell Wilson (171) along with Sandhills/Thedford's Nate McFadden (135).
