Glen Gascho, 92

Glen A. Gascho, 92 of Cairo, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, at Good Samaritan Society in Wood River. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at the First Baptist Church in Cairo with the Rev. Darrel Holzinger and the Rev. Jack Bolling officiating. Burial will be in the Mennonite Church Cemetery of Wood River. Apfel Funeral Home of Cairo is in charge of arrangements.
Glen A. Gascho was born May 21, 1921, in rural Hall County to Arthur and Barbara (Stutzman) Gascho.
Survivors of the immediate family include his six children and their spouses, Barbara Loy of Cairo, Jim and Mary Gascho of Grand Island, Allan and Kathy Anderson of Mason City, Dave and Ruth Gascho of Cedar Park, Texas, Randy and Glenda Beckler of Cairo and Bruce and Ginny Landers of Grand Island; 14 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
Glen moved with his family to Broken Bow at the age of 12 and completed his education there.
He married Delores Schweitzer May 23, 1943, at Broken Bow. The couple moved to Cairo in 1953.
Glen farmed in western Hall County and worked in Cairo as a plumber. He was later self-employed in trucking.
Glen’s life was a shining example to his family and those who knew him. His goal in life was to be true and faithful to his Lord. He lived by the words, “Wher-ever He Leads.” In his later years at the nursing home, Glen was known to pray with and for the staff and nurses.
Memorials are suggested to the Good Samaritan Society – Wood River.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores; a son-in-law, Floyd Loy; a granddaughter, Kristi Anderson; and one brother, Chester Gascho.
