Indians, Bobcats, Broncos, Knights, Mustangs swing for the greens

April 7, 2011

Broken Bow’s Kyle Mayor strokes this put near the hole on the 5th green in their dual with Gothenburg.

BROKEN BOW -- The Broken Bow Indian golf team put in 18 holes of work this past week. The Indians traveled to Holdrege last week and finished in second place at the Holdrege Triangular with Cozad.
Broken Bow’s Tanner Johnson shot the low round with a 41 which was one stroke better than Holdrege’s Caleb Ostgren. Nate Hanson shot a 47 for the second best 9-hole score among the Indian golfers.
This past Tuesday, the Indians hosted Gothenburg at the Broken Bow Country Club.
After a calm warm afternoon, the wind picked up just in time to play havoc on the high school golfers. Of course, the wind became a benefit for some golfers, and none better than the tee shot of Tanner Johnson on the 9th hole. Johnson used the wind to his advantage to drive the green, landing his ball with eight feet of the pin. Johnson completed his round with a birdie and a 38 score. The Indians had the next two lowest scores with Hanson shooting a 45 and Kyle Mayor a 49. The Indians used the home course advantage to defeat Gothenburg 184-210.
