James Guilford, 86
James Guilford, age 86, died Saturday, May 25, 2013, at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow.
Funeral services were May 30, 2013, at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with Pastor Bob Winn officiating. Burial was in the Broken Bow Cemetery with Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow in charge of the arrangements.
James Everett Guilford was born Sept. 8, 1926, to Everett and Helen (Ludwig) Guilford near Sundance, Wyo., on the family homestead.
October 28, 1951, Jim was married to JoAnn Applegarth. They made their home for a short time in Sundance, Wyo., before moving to the Callaway-Oconto area. Two sons were born to this union; John and Jim. JoAnn died Jan. 26, 1986. Jim was later married to Bonnie Ferguson. They made their home east of Callaway. Bonnie died Nov. 14, 2010. Jim continued to make his home in Broken Bow. Jim spent his entire life doing what he loved most - farming and ranching.
Jim was a member of the Faith Bible Fellowship Church of Broken Bow. Jimâ€™s faith was extremely important. He was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as his savior in 1951. Jim enjoyed the country life. He also enjoyed reading history and western books especially Lois Lâ€™Amour. Jim especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends.
Mr. Guilford is survived by his two sons, John Guilford of Huron, SD and Jim Guilford of New York; step son, Greg (Jan) Dobesh of Broken Bow; step daughter, Jacki (Maurice) Ryan of Broken Bow; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Karen Swartz of South Dakota.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, JoAnn and Bonnie; a brother, Eugene, and a sister, Helen.
