Johnson shoots par to win Kearney Invite title

KEARNEY -- Broken Bow’s Tanner Johnson carded an even par 71 to win the Kearney High Invitational individual title. The Kearney Invite was held at Meadowlark Hills Golf Course last Thursday under windy and rainy conditions.
The Broken Bow golfers were in the first wave to tee off on the number 10 hole to start the day. Johnson chipped in on on the par 5 12th hole for an eagle which propelled him to two under par. Johnson’s bogey on number 14 dropped him to one under. After pars on the following four holes, Johnson finished with a one under 34 on the back nine.
Johnson’s second nine holes began with bogeys on holes one and three to put him at one over par. Johnson rebounded with back-to-back birdies at holes six and seven to put him at even par. After a bogey on number eight, Johnson parred the final hole for a 37 on the front nine.
Johnson’s final score of 71 led all Broken Bow golfers who finished with a 365 team score. Also scoring for the Indians were Nate Hanson (96), Marcus Miller (97) Dalton Schnase (101) and Kyle Mayor (105).
