Lexington police looking for man who shot at officer

July 31, 2014

(AP) — Lexington police are looking for a 25-year-old man who they say shot at officers.

Police say officers sent at 12:45 a.m. Wednesday to check on a disturbance saw Jose Covarrubias, of Lexington, fire a handgun at a woman fleeing a house. The officers say he also fired at their vehicles, and one officer returned fire before Covarrubias fled the scene.

A child was treated at a hospital for a minor injury from an apparent ricochet.

An arrest warrant for Covarrubias says he's wanted on two counts of attempted murder and other crimes.
