Margie Peterson, 84

Margie Ann Peterson, 84 of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Broken Bow, NE died Feb. 19, 2013, at her daughters home in Cedar Rapids from kidney failure. Funeral services were Feb. 23, 2013, at the Church of Christ in Broken Bow with Minister Jerry Rickets officiating. Inurnment will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery at a later date. Iverson Memorial Chapel of Broken Bow was in charge of arrangements.
Margie was born in Primrose, Aug. 15, 1928, the daughter of Emery and Clara (Aerhart) Cunningham. She grew up around the Spalding area with her parents, two sisters and a brother.
Margie was married to Norman "Pete" Peterson Sept. 23, 1959. Margie's passion was not only raising her eight children, but having a career with children as we1l. She worked at the Child Development Center as well as Head Start for many years.
In addition to these careers she also babysat many children and loved each one of them, as if they were her own. Margie kept busy following her children to their many activities. She also enjoyed sewing, traveling, and spending time talking and laughing with her many dear friends and family.
Margie is survived by her sons, Gene of Grand Island, Dave (Darrah) of Pines Plain, NY, Kim (Sharon) of Oklahoma City, Okla., Steve "Butch" of Da1las, Texas, Tim (Shannen) of Omaha, Ken “Skeeter” (Jennifer) of Lincoln; daughter, Tammi (Brian) of Denverr Colo.; 21 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; sister Lois Berggren of St. Paul, and many other family and friends.
Margie is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Pete; brother, A1 Cunningham; sister, Fern Rankin; daughter-in-law, Kathy Sperling.
Memorials are suggested to Broken Bow Hospice or St. Francis Hospice of Grand Island.
The family of Margie Peterson wishes to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers as Margie waited for our Father in Heaven to take her home.
