Marvin W. Beatty, 74, of Kearney, died Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. A memorial service was Wednesday, April 30, at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dustin Lappe officiating. Memor-ials are suggested to the family for future designation. Condolences or personal reflections may be submitted at ww.osrfh.com. O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home of Kearney was in charge of arrangements.
Marvin Wayne Beatty was born June 26, 1939, in Arnold, to Archie and Donna (Koch) Beatty. Marvin was a graduate of Gandy High School and later served in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1963. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Arnold. In 2005, he retired to Kearney with his loving wife, JoAnn (Franssen).
Survivors include JoAnn, his wife of 28 years; his children, Marcia (Roger) Brouillette of Lincoln, Michael (Stacy) Beatty of Kearney; Janet Callahan (Tim Rosentrater) of Callaway, Lorie Hauser (Dan Denson) of Broken Bow, and Larry (Holly) Smorgala of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; grandchildren, Matthew, Madison, Sherri, Melissa, Cory, Kelsey, Justin, Haden, Taylor and Cody; great-grandchildren, Trey, Kenyon, Keyshon, and Sydnee; brother, Denny (Peggy) Beatty of Arnold; nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. A special thank you also goes out to Annita Uwamahoro for her help during times of need.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter, Melissa.
