Mullen downs Twin Loup in close game

The Broncos (1-0) got their season off to a hot start Friday night with a narrow win over the Wolves of Twin Loup (1-1) at home.

Quarterback Riley Rice completed 14 of his 21 passes for 149 yards and two touchdowns for Mullen. Tye Spies had impressive night on the receiving end, hauling in eight for 125 yards and catching both of the touchdown passes from Rice.

Running back Britt McIntosh added a touchdown in the second quarter with a 57-yard touchdown run.

Defensively for the Broncos, Garrett Cox and Kory Phillips lead the way with 12 and 11 tackles respectively.

Tyler Viers had two rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown on the night for Twin Loup while quarterback Jack Gibbens tossed two touchdown passes. One of the TD passes going to Dexter Griebel.
