Remains found on Custer County farm assessed
ARNOLD, Neb. (AP) — Officials say remains found on a farm near the central Nebraska town of Arnold likely are those of an American Indian who died between 1820 and 1870.The skull, mandible and partial skeleton were found in October. Officials from the Nebraska State Historical Society, aided by university researchers, determined the remains were those of a man older than 40. The experts were unable to determine the cause of his death or to which tribe he may have belonged.The Nebraska Commission on Indian Affairs will oversee the reburial.
