Shirley Coen, 99

Shirley D. Coen, 99, formerly of Arnold, passed away Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at the Elwood Care Center in Elwood.
Shirley was born July 7, 1914, at Gandy, to Moses Lane and Jeanette Maud (Roberson) Adams. She attended the Logan County High School.
March 16, 1958, she and Lee Coen were united in marriage at Hershey. They moved to the family farm between Gandy and Arnold. When they retired they moved to Arnold.
Shirley especially enjoyed the times family and friends were guests at their home and their 40th and 50th anniversaries. She was very active in the senior center where she delivered meals on wheels and fixed many Thanksgiving dinners for those who did not have family.
Shirley loved playing cards, especially when she won! When she was younger, she loved singing with her sister and friends. Shirley was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her sister, Helen Figuski; nephews, Preston (Cheryl) Adams, Milo (Sue) Adams, Donzel (Sandy) Adams, Jim Adams, Bud Ricketts; nieces, Lynn (Bob) Bauchnan, Euphema Clark, Norene (Ted) Alles, Lois (Allen) Beyer; many great-nieces and nephews, special friends and caretakers, Renee Zikmund and Jewel Shea.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lee; infant son; brothers, Ronald, Richard, Marshall and Gordan Adams; sisters, Edythe Barker, Bassie Ricketts and Audrey McClinti.
Shirley will be remembered for her great faith and love of The Lord, her sweet and loving personality and ability to make everyone feel special.
Services will be Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Arnold, with Pastor Andrew Black officiating. Burial will follow in the Arnold Cemetery.
Memorials may go to the Arnold Methodist Church or the Arnold Cemetery.
Arnold Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
