Spirit 18u Softball outclasses Burwell.

June 9, 2013

There was a point in time where Burwell softball was the team to beat. The Broken Bow Spirit 18u has proved that times have changed.

The Spirit 18u dominated Burwell at home 18-2 June 5 to improve their record to 4-2 on the season. The win also marked their second straight.

The sticks came alive for every girl in the Spirit lineup, lead by Katie Kirkpatrick's three RBIs. She drove in all three with a triple while going 1-3 from the plate. Kelsie Myers, Lizzie Griffith, Tressa Ripp and Hannah Evans also drove in one run each.

Burwell gave the Spirit plenty of help as only seven of the Spirit's 18 runs were earned. Every player in the lineup crossed the plate at least once before the game was called in the third inning due to run rules.

The Spirit play again Monday night against their fellow 16 and under team.
