William "Bill" Hickey, 71
William Eugene Hickey, age 71 of Cozad, passed away Monday, April 23, 2012 at his home in Cozad after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Bill was born Dec. 22, 1940, to William J. and Gertrude (McCarthy) Hickey at their home near Anselmo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Michael; step-father, Lyle Kutsch and sister-in-law, Connie Hickey.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Lois Hickey of Cozad; two sons, Shawn (Karma) Hickey of Smithfield, Chris (Kris) Hickey of Boelus; a daughter, Shari Hickey of Cozad; four granddaughters, Taylor and Lauren Hickey of Smithfield and Leslie and Autumn Hickey of Boelus; two brothers, Kenneth Hickey of Fairfield and Jim Hickey of Tryon; a sister, Karen Brooks of Holdrege; sister-in-law, Virginia Hickey of Alda and many aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mass of the Christian burial will be held Friday, April 27, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the Christ the King Catholic Church in Cozad with Father Don O’Brien as celebrant. Burial will be in the St. Anselm’s Cemetery at Anselmo at 2 p.m.
Visitation will be Thursday, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad.
