Winter Sports Preview: Sumner-Eddyville-Miller Mustangs

December 15, 2010

The 2010-11 S-E-M Mustangs are front row, from left, Quinten Malcom, Brandon Trampe, Nolan Smith, Lance English, John O’Neill, Andrey Gallegos and Martin Gonzalez; second row, assistant coach Justin Bosak, Angel Boteo, Chase Erwin, Brian Guerra, Jacob Mackety, Joe Harshbarger, student manager Paul Gonzalez and head coach Dave Irwin; third row, student managers Dillan Ansbach, Austin Jeffrey and Brayden Smith.

MUSTANGS RELOAD FOR SUCCESS
SUMNER -- The S-E-M Mustangs are needing to reload after losing four starters to graduation from last year’s 19-5 team.
Dillan Line is the only returning starter who average 11 points and seven rebounds per game last year.
Without any seniors on this year’s team the Mustangs will need to develop depth and experience to compete for conference and district titles.
Coach Dave Irwin sees his team as being among the middle to top half of the Fort Kearney Conference by year’s end. If the Mustangs can develop an inside game with a balanced perimeter attack and recover from injuries, the Mustangs have a good chance at competing for the conference crown.
