Mack B. Horn, 85, of Oconto, died Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at the Callaway Good Samaritan Care Center. Mack was born May 18, 1925, at Lomax to Homer and Nell (Brigham) Horn.
Mack grew up in the Oconto area and graduated from high school in 1942. He married Willa Mae Thomas in Oconto March 26, 1951.
Mack was a life-long area farmer and rancher for more than 60 years, with his wife Willie. Together they enjoyed the outdoors, living south of Pressey Park, always providing a line for anyone’s assistance. They traveled to many stock shows, rodeos and shared stories with their many friends.
Mack was a pilot, life member of Oconto Fire Department and Elks Lodge 1688 of Broken Bow. He was known for his cap and pipe, and a good joke or tale to be told.
Mack was preceded by his parents, wife, and granddaughter.
Survivors include his three children, Michael (Linda) of Livonia, N.Y., Beth (Allen) Lonowski of Scottsbluff, Pat of Oconto; granddaughter, Dawn Lonwski; grandsons, Toby Witte Horn, Nathan Witte Horn, and Eric Lonowski; great-granddaughter, Abbirose Lonowski and many other relatives and friends.
Graveside funeral services were Jan. 6, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Broken Bow. Father James Hunt officiated. Pallbearers were the Oconto Fire Department. Elks rites were by the Broken Bow Lodge 1688. Memorials are to the Oconto Fire Department or Good Samaritan Care Center in Callaway. They may be sent in care of the family at 43390 Pressey W.
