Kevin Evans and Cody Schweitzer have been good friends since they were kids. Like many friends they use to talk about how much fun it might be someday to be business partners, never really knowing when - or if - that would ever happen.
In March 2004, it did happen for these two friends, when they formed a business partnership and purchased Ag Land ATV in Broken Bow.
Kevin was already familiar with the business, having worked there for then owner Justin Vandevort in 2002.
“When the opportunity came up to buy it, I called Cody and we went for it,” Kevin says.
In the years since they purchased Ag Land, the business has steadily grown. In fact, it has expanded so much it outgrew the building they were in, says Kevin.
So, about three years ago he and Cody purchased a piece of ground on West Highway 2, waiting for the right time to build a new store. Kevin says Pamida bought their property right about the same time and property in that area was becoming somewhat of a hot commodity.
In the summer of 2010, construction began on the new Ag Land ATV site. The business officially moved in to its new location Feb. 22, 2011.
One of the biggest advantages to the new location is the added space, allowing for a bigger shop and a larger display area inside the store. Kevin says they plan to expand their line of accessories now that they have the display room to do so.
Ag Land ATV employs seven people, with Cody serving as shop manager and Kevin handling the sales side of the business. Kevin says it works out really well, with both partners working in the area they are most comfortable. However, he says they do interchange departments if need be.
The public is invited to stop by and check out the new Ag Land ATV location any time, but an Open House is planned for March 18. A ribbon cutting will be at 10 a.m. that morning, and there will be drawings and special events throughout the day.
