Cecil (Pete) Patterson passed away at 5:20 a.m. April 25, 2011. He was born in a sod house in Custer County June 22, 1925, to Claude and Clara (Lund) Patterson.
Cecil attended Ansley High School and Kearney State College. He was a four-sport athlete in high school and college.
He was married to Kathleen Skeen, and the couple farmed in Custer County for several years. In 1951, they moved to Idaho where they continued to farm.
In 1963, Cecil attended auctioneer school in Boise, Idaho. He became an accomplished auctioneer and worked many years selling at sale barns in Idaho, Montana and Utah. Later in life he became a real estate broker.
Cecil took great pride and enjoyment attending sporting events and school events in which his children and grandchildren participated.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Clara, and his siblings, Alice, Bill, Sid, Charlotte, Don, Ralph and Bob.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Kathleen (Skeen) Patterson; four children, Joe (Mary) Patterson of Sterling, Colo., Kay (Bill) Goff of Jerome, Idaho, Jaynie (Jeff) Bell of Idaho Falls, Idaho and Mack (Stacey) Patterson of Fort Collins, Colo. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and long time friends and brothers and sisters-in-law, Dale and Reva Skeen of Broken Bow, and Don and Chloe Skeen of Idaho Falls.
At his request, Cecil’s remains will be cremated and his ashes scattered. The family will have a “Life Celebration” at a later date.
