Charlotte Nansel, 73

Charlotte Jeanette Nansel, 73 of Arnold, went home to be with her Savior Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011. She was born Oct. 11, 1937, to Alma and Gladys Brown. After contracting polio in 1954 and receiving treatments, she graduated from Gandy High School in 1955. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Nansel Sept. 19, 1956. Charlotte stayed at home taking excellent care of her family. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, and working crossword puzzles. She was known for her cheerful attitude and her positive outlook. She was a strong woman who was an inspiration to the people who knew her. She was able to make life in a wheelchair less about having a disability than about building character, patience and hope; and people who visited with her report that she was able to pass that hope and inspiration on to them. Charlotte is survived by her husband, Loyd Kenneth of Arnold; her children, Lois (Bill) Witthuhn of Arnold, Lori (Koji) Nakagawa of Lincoln, Linda (Hayden) Petrie, and Kirk (Tyann) Nansel; grandchildren, Olivia (Larry) Prince of Riverton, Wyo., Tiffany (Todd) Engleman of North Platte, Tyrel (Chelsey) Witthuhn of North Platte, Sheena, Serina and Kenji Nakagawa, Amber, Will and Brandon Petrie, Courtnie, MaKenzie and Turner Nansel; great-grandchildren, Remington Prince, Benjamin, Alexander and Kearsyn Engleman; brother, Loren (Anita) Brown; sisters-in-law, Wilma Nansel of Lexington, Theda (Lawrence) Coleman of Merna, Ardith (Dale) Clark of Brady, Shirley Basset of Arnold, Nancy Brown of South Dakota; brother-in-law, Ralph (Karla) Nansel of Arnold; and numerous nieces and nephews. Charlotte was preceded in death by her infant son; her parents, and her brother, James Brown. A celebration of eternal life service was Feb. 21 at the United Methodist Church in Arnold. Burial was in the Arnold Cemetery with Arnold Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
