Cold weather to return, temps to drop nearly 30 degrees

The return of cold is forecast for the first week of 2017. According to the National Weather Service office out of North Platte, temperatures in central and north central Nebraska could see temperatures drop almost 30 degrees between Sunday, Jan. 1. and Wednesday, Jan. 4. The coldest temperatures are forecast to be Tuesday night and Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service , temperatures in Central Nebraska could reach close to 60, with a forecast high of 58, for Friday, Jan. 58. Friday night's low is expected to be 23.

Saturday should be sunny with a of 37 with a low of 22 overnight.

Winds will be gusty through Saturday, calming Saturday night.

New Year's Day is forecast to be sunny with a high of 42. Sunday night sees a 20 percent chance of snow with a low around 20.

A chance of snow continues into Monday at 40 percent with cloudy skies and the high forecast to be near 27.

Monday night will see a low in the single digits, around 8 degrees.

Tuesday will have a chance of snow early with a high near 17 and Wednesday will be much the same with a high near 20. The forecast calls for lows Tuesday and Wednesday near 0 or 1 degree.
