Coldest wind chills likely between 3-9 a.m. Tuesday

Wind chill values will fall into the -20 to -31 degree range later this evening, Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, into Tuesday morning according to the National Weather Service (NWS). The coldest wind chill values are expected between 3-9 a.m. Tuesday

The coldest wind chill values over northern Kansas.will range from -20 to -25.

North of Highway 92 (a line from Stapleton, Arnold, Merna and Broken Bow to Ansley, Loup City and St. Paul) the coldest wind chill values will be around -30.

A Wind Chill Warning is in effect for Valley and Greeley Counties in Nebraska from 10 p.m. Monday until noon Tuesday.

A Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect for the remainder of the area.

The NWS reminds people that frostbite can occur quickly on exposed skin, within 30 minutes, and to please dress appropriately.

The NWS's confidence in the forecast is high, expecting to be within 3 to 5 degrees of actual coldest wind chill values.
