Custer, Lincoln Counties added to Winter Weather Advisory

An upper level disturbance, will spread snow to portions of western and north central Nebraska. Snow may mix with rain at times which could limit snow accumulations, yet where bands of snow develop snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches are expected with locally higher amounts around 6 inches.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service for the following counties in Nebraska: Eastern Cherry-Garden-Thomas-Blaine-Arthur-McPherson-Logan-Custer-Deuel-Keith-Lincoln including the cities of Valentine, Oshkosh, Lewellen, Thedford, Halsey, Dunning, Purdum, Brewster, Arthur, Tryon, Ringgold, Stapleton, Broken Bow, Chappell, Big Springs, Ogallala, Paxton, and North Platte.

The advisory is in effect until 1 a.m. CDT Saturday March 30/Midnight MST.

Snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches with locally higher amounts where snow bands develop are possible.

Higher accumulations are possible in areas along the Interstate 80 cooridor then north and west to include Custer, Eastern Cherry, Garden, Thomas, Blaine Arthur, McPherson, Logan Deuel, Keith and Lincoln counties.

Plan on slippery road conditions. Quick accumulations of snow will occur under areas where snow bands develop. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commutes to include portions of the Interstate 80 corridor.

A Winter Weather Advisory is also in effect for Sheridan-Grant-Hooker-Western Cherry Counties including the cities of Gordon, Rushville, Hyannis, Mullen, Cody, Eli, Merriman, and Kilgore as well as Dawes-Box Butte-North Sioux Counties including the cities of Chadron, Chadron St Park, Alliance,
and Harrison.
