D Street to open end of the week; Part of 10th to temporarily close

South D Street from 8th Avenue to 9th Avenue could re-open to traffic by the end of this week. That means that the north side of the Square will be open to traffic by June 17. A ribbon cutting will be scheduled, most likely 10 a.m. Friday, June 17.

In a Progress Meeting Tuesday June 14, the re-opening of D Street was discussed. Other topics addressed include:

* Part of 10th Avenue, at the intersection with South D, will be temporarily closed while a connection is made with water and sewer. This could happen at the end of this week or early next week, according to Perry Myers with Myers Construction.

* The drinking fountain in the Square will be moved from the southwest corner of the Square to the north side near the middle of the block.

* The bandstand may be completed this week. It was Bill Butler's goal, of Custer County Construction, to have it complete by the end of this week.
