Rain and snow through tonight for central, western Nebraska

There will be rain and snow possible for much of the day (Friday, Mar. 29,2019) for central and western Nebraska, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) office in North Platte.

A Rain/snow mix or or all snow is possible for west central and northwest Nebraska.

Precipitation should change over to all snow early this evening.

Snow amounts have been increased from original forecast amount for Custer County with 2-3 inches possible.

There is uncertainty with forecasts amount due to warm ground and air temperatures.

The area of greatest risk for light to moderate snow fall is northwest Nebraska.

The weather system will bring additional moisture that could cause rises in area creeks and rivers. Those with interests near rivers and creeks should monitor the situation.

Area roadways experiencing snow may become slippery and possible snow covered late Friday night and into Saturday earlly morning.

Storm total precipitation totals are greatest in Sheridan and Cherry Counties (up to 0.63 inches) and Custer County (up to 0.51 inches).
