At the age of 14, he began his lifelong struggle with juvenile diabetes. Ronnie graduated high school in 1964 from Pueblo County High. After graduation Ronnie attended one year at Pueblo Jr. College studying mechanics and worked at the local Oldsmobile dealership. On the Saturday after Thanksgiving 1968, Ronnie was introduced to Carolyn Roberts by mutual friends. Ronnie and Carolyn had their first date Jan. 3. Their world record courtship began then and by Jan. 10, they were engaged and May 16 they were married at Belmont Southern Baptist Church in Pueblo. Here they stayed, working on several ranches in the area until they bought a house in Halsey in 1988. In the early 90s, Ronnie went to work for John Dean at the 7J Cattle Company. He worked there until he had to go on dialysis in 1996 for his failing kidneys. August 23, 1999 we all rejoiced when a kidney came available that was a match for Ronnie.
